Hi Fee! I fell off the wagon for a bit and quit using my cash system/allowance etc and saw things go right back to the old yuckie way pretty fast so I am back on again too and can already see a difference in my spending. It works instantly, in my e…

Start the New Year Out Right

This year I seem to be having a slow start in getting organized for the new year or doing my regular pass at decluttering projects. It's in a large part because of a project we're doing in the kitchen - putting on our new wood counter top.

What a process this has been - actually a year in the making since we had originally been goin… Continue

DAY 10 - A New Look At Inlaws

Yesterday my mother and father in law popped over. It's been awhile since they have been here and they have seen a few things that have probably made them want to run screaming from the room I'm sure.

I usually do a running inventory of all the stuff I 'wish' I had done when they come in.

NOT TODAY

Today, although their visit was unexpected, I saw a few messes around but it wasn't the overwhelming kind of MESS that can knock an unsuspecting person right out of the room.

THE BEST THING?

The… Continue

Day 9 - BOOST Circuit Saves Toe!

Not!

Yesterday I didn't do my BOOST. It's 'that time of month' and I was feeling really disoriented and tired. On top of all the activity going on and too many late nights, I couldn't even tell you what I did most of the day.

The good news is that the BOOST circuit actually does allow for a day of rest, for the most part I choose not to take it because I like the results and don't find it to be a huge deal most of the time.

The other good news is that missing one day didn't make the sky fall.… Continue

Day 8 - My Baby Graduated Junior Public - whahhhh!

Yesterday was quite busy with a last minute trip down to the hairdresser so that my daughter could get her hair cut for her grade 6 grad, next year she goes to senior public. She will love it.

It is the end of an era for me. At one time all 3 of my kids were in junior public and it seems like it would always be that way.

Now one is out of school completely, my middle daughter is going into grade 11 and youngest is moving on.

It's hard to believe.

So, I didn't get my BOOST done in the morning… Continue

Day 7 - Floors Washed Before Daughter Leaves for School

Yesterday I barely squeaked through in getting my BOOST finished.

Today I totally rocked it out.

The first reason is that I took the extra time even though I didn't really feel like it to vaccuum on the floor that our kitchen/office/bedroom is.

This set me up perfectly when this morning came along. I noticed that the dog area needed changing (our pom is paper trained because she can't get to the front door to ask to go out. this way she… Continue

Hi Jan,

I just wanted to ask a quick question - are the worksheets that I downloaded the "course" or am I missing something? Sorry, I have been consumed with another course I'm taking and haven't had a chance to look over all the worksheets just yet. By the end of this week I should be able to though.

Hi Jan, that's great to know. I'm glad I am in such good company.

I was hoping to do two and a half hours on it, but found that I did about three quarters of an hour, and then did 'free' tidying - ie just routine work, going around the house doing stuff that was crying out to be done.

I feel much better and have made a big improvement.

And you are right - it meant that after lunch I could lie down for half an hour - in an environment significantly less cluttered. The other thing I do is to clear the window side first - so I am looking out at the tree outside and all the clutter is behind me on the other side out of sight, but I still feel connected with nature.

Hi Jan. With my medical condition, I'm able to work in 15 minute increments and then rest for 15 minutes, which may not sound like much, but I'm really making a big difference in the appearance of my house. Each day I now have a satisfied feeling of accomplishment knowing that my home is a few steps closer to my ideal. Thanks for your encouragement and all you do.

Thanks Jan. Your prompt comment certainly was welcoming. I plan on taking some time to read the info I have purchased and read what others have written. I know I can make a big improvement in developing a routine since I actually do not have one now. Thanks again.

What wonderful insight. I'm comfortable agreeing to how society has shifted. A popular author wrote a book about this issue. Although Dr. Hallowell is an expert in the ADHD field, his book speaks to society being Crazy Busy

I have heard the same about the vitamin c and bought the packets of Vitamin C Emergency C that you mix in water. It tastes great! I have managed to get 3 weeks of lesson plans and chore charts completed for the kids & especially so my husband will have an idea of what the kids and I accomplish every day. LOL!
How are things with you and your family? Are you making plans for Thanksgiving and decorating for fall Halloween/Thanksgiving season? I have been working on changing out all my candles and wreath, & pillows. Home is really beginning to look more warm and cozy for the season. My girls love it when I start making pumpkin bread and apple butter. I made that last weekend and it was a huge hit!
I need to get busy and complete my work for our Women's Bible Study - we are doig Beth Moore's Breaking Free.
I will talk to you soon! Have a wonderful day.

That's amazing! I've always been interested in psychology. If I had gone with a career when I was younger, that's what I had wanted to do, or social work.

That is so wonderful about your son. It's my biggest fear that my kids will grow up and I'll lose touch with them. He sounds like he's doing really well, you must be soooo proud.

You really have some beautiful children there! I know you are going to do well, it must be quite interesting and even exciting (and exhausting some days I'm sure)

Thanks for the welcome Jan. I am going back to college picking up where I left off with my paralegal degree. This semester is accounting, business law and psychology.

I was amazed at how easy and quick the process was with the continuing ed department. I attend class for 2 hours a day in the evening 4 days a week.

Yes, I do hear from my 24 year old I'm happy to say. Although he is still "my breathe", I have learned to watch him take the hard road when it is his choice to do so. He tells me every time we talk that I am the best mom ever and refuses to let me help him with $$ saying I gave him enough already (though I do sneak a couple of small care packages in from time to time). I'm proud to say he is in his 2nd year of college and doing it all on his own.

The best part ? is how supportive all 3 kids have been to me going back to school and needing time to do homework! They all ask with interest how I like it and what I am learning. Granted they still expect the dishes done and dinner cooked ala mom :) But 2 nights a week the 16 yo cooks dinner for his little sister while I'm at class, so I don't mind that I have not been totally replaced!

Now if I can just get them to take 5 minutes and put clean sheets on their beds today :)
